With Wilson, I’m still hesitant [in public] sometimes, but when I look at it I see I’ve gone back out to live. I go out now; I go into areas where there are crowds, which is something I wouldn’t have done before. I get a lot of anxiety even while driving in traffic and he picks up on that. He licks my neck and my ear and there’s no way you can have anxiety with that. I’m too busy trying to dry my ear out! He really senses and picks up on everything. It’s wonderful. I laugh a lot more now”
Wilson and USMC Veteran, Shawn, graduated from our program in January 2021. Wilson made real strides as a service dog trainee and took to his new job proudly and quickly, making it possible for the team to graduate in one year. We are very proud of this team, and we can’t wait to see the amazing things they continue to achieve – together. Wilson was adopted from labs and more rescue and his training and care was generously sponsored by The Fish Market Restaurant. Wilson is affectionately named after the late Bob Wilson, an incredible philanthropist.
HELP THE MISSION
Every dollar helps us fulfill our mission of saving lives, two at a time™
Supporting our mission allows us to rescue more dogs for our program, and provides the funding we need to support all of their needs from medical care to safe housing over the course of their 12-18 month training program and subsequent training with their veteran handler.
