Dog Tales: Meet Calvin & Charley
Meet Calvin! Calvin is a 3 year old pit mix we adopted from Wags & Walks rescue out of Los Angeles, CA. Calvin progressed through our program well overall, but developed some behavioral issues that required a career change and a professional handler to maintain. Thankfully, his trainer and USMC Veteran, Charley, bonded deeply with Calvin and adopted him for her new adventures in Texas! We are so proud of them.
Charley dedicated nearly 4 years of her skills, passion and time to Shelter to Soldier as one of our dog trainers. She enjoyed giving back to her fellow veterans and was always there for the dogs. Charley accepted an opportunity in Texas working for the DoD and we are so thankful for all that she did for our mission and for taking Calvin under her wing, not only during training but now as her new family member.

Supporting our mission allows us to rescue more dogs for our program, and provides the funding we need to support all of their needs from medical care to safe housing over the course of their 12-18 month training program and subsequent training with their veteran handler.
